Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
facil.ai uses AI to increase HVAC efficiency and reduce energy waste in buildings. The AI-agents constantly babysit the systems to ensure optimal performance.
facil.ai has proven AI-agents to optimize both electric water-cooled chillers in a central plant and packaged rooftop units across a portfolio. The easy-to-integrate software gateway includes over 27 open and proprietary direct gateways to control systems such as Novar Savvy, Johnson Controls Metasys, BACnet over IP, Automated Logic, and so much more. View a full list of our gateways here. More gateways are added regularly.
facil.ai is cloud-based. AI agents are deployed on a facility's existing network and are supervised from our safe and secure Azure cloud. Requires persistent network connectivity for real-time data exchange and optimization.
A facil.ai pilot is no risk in three ways: There is no new hardware required–even our gateway is a software installation. There is no change management, and no additional work for a site team. There are no upfront costs. You don’t pay for the pilot until after you see savings.
facil.ai uses small neural nets and real-time deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to develop and train a unique model for each piece of equipment. The AI uses a four-step process to save energy. It first observes the current data. It then uses the unique model for each piece of equipment to plan the next steps while maintaining guardrails. The AI-agent then takes action by adjusting settings on the control system. Finally the AI-agent learns from the real-time outcomes, applying this new information to the ever-improving model.
Unlike solutions that push the limits of comfort to save energy, facil.ai uses precision control. AI precision significantly increases the efficiency of HVAC equipment using deep reinforcement learning for every miniscule change in temperature.
Yes. All of your sensitive data is protected using industry-standard, high encryption schemes.
We offer a secure web interface which allows authorized operators to stop the AI if necessary. Additionally, the AI-agents perform diagnostics on each unit, and, as a fail-safe, will disengage if any anomalies are detected.
Never. The AI works within strict guardrails, and makes small, incremental and safe adjustments to the control settings. Every AI-agent is constrained to the operating parameters of the equipment. The facil.ai team are experts with decades of experience designing, installing, programming and commissioning BMS systems in mission-critical environments.
Yes. As part of our ongoing monthly SaaS product, facil.ai provides all our customers with an open API to access and use the data, through our plug and play, Independent Data Layer (IDL), for additional applications.
